TaiMiao, Imperial Ancestral Temple, also named Working People's Cultural Palace, a part of forbidden city in past.

In the city, the Imperial Ancestral Temple (TaiMiao) is the only grand hall where you can enter and visit, the halls in forbidden city are not permited to enter, you just can only view these halls in outside.

Imperial Ancestral Temple is very near to the south gate of forbidden city, and if you enter the forbidden city, you only can go out from the north gate, where will be very far away the Imperial Ancestral Temple.

What are the main things to see:

- The pillars in the temple are all made of golden nanmu wood (Phoebe)

- The bucket arch (DouGong) architecture in the temple

- The gold bricks laid on the ground in the temple

- The painted ceiling of arch of wooden architecture girder in the temple

How to get to the  Imperial Ancestral Temple (TaiMiao):

entering the DongHuaMen Road (opposite to the east gate of forbidden city), walking to south gate of forbidden city along the east wall of forbidden city. you will find the west gate of the Imperial Ancestral Temple, another direction is to the south gate of the forbidden city.

walking this route, you will not need to make the reservation of TianAnMen Square.
