The offline channels for foreigners to go to the public security organs in their place of residence to handle accommodation registration will continue to be retained. Online accommodation registration and on-site registration at public security organs have the same legal effect.
According to Article 39 of the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China, if a foreigner stays in a hotel within the territory of China, the hotel shall handle the accommodation registration for them in accordance with the relevant regulations of hotel industry security management and submit the foreigner's accommodation registration information to the local public security organs; Foreigners who reside or stay in residences other than hotels shall register with the public security organs of their place of residence within 24 hours after check-in, either by themselves or by the host.
